Nestlog

Privacy Policy

Nestlog is a baby-tracking app that runs entirely on your devices. Your data stays with you, and we never receive it. No accounts. No servers. No analytics. No tracking.

Last updated: 12 July 2026

In one paragraph

Nestlog has no user accounts and no servers. Everything you log about your baby is stored only in the app's local database on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have any access to it. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. The short version: your data stays on your devices, and we never receive it.

Data we collect

None. Nestlog has no user accounts and no servers. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have any access to the information you enter. We use no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.

Where your data lives

All information you enter, including your baby's profile, feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, growth measurements, milk and formula stash, and notes, is stored only in the app's local database on your device. If you add a baby photo, you choose it from your device's photo gallery using the system photo picker, and it is kept only on your device.

Device-to-device sync optional

If you choose to sync, Nestlog connects directly to your own other devices running Nestlog over your local network (for example, your home wifi). This transfer is encrypted and happens only between devices you have paired. The data is never sent to us or to any third party, and no server is involved at any point.

Watch app (Wear OS) optional

If you install the Nestlog watch app, your running feed timer and your babies' names and photos (reduced in size for the watch) sync between your phone and your own paired watch through Google Play services' Wearable Data Layer. This transfer is end-to-end encrypted and happens only between your own two devices. When Bluetooth is unavailable it may be relayed through Google's servers in encrypted form; Google's handling of that transport is covered by Google's own privacy policy. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party, and timer data is removed from the sync channel the moment a session ends.

Backups optional

You can create a backup file that is encrypted with a password you choose. The file is saved wherever you decide using your device's file picker. We never see it and cannot recover it if you lose the password.

Separately, you can turn on Android's automatic backup in Settings (it is off by default). When enabled, Android includes the app's data in your device backup, stored in your own Google Drive and encrypted end to end with your device's screen lock so that neither we nor Google can read it; on devices without that encryption capability, Android does not run the cloud backup at all. Turning the toggle off stops the backups, and you can delete stored device backups at any time from your Google account settings. We never see or receive your backups.

Purchases optional

Nestlog Pro is an optional one-time purchase. The transaction is handled entirely by Google Play, which is also the only party that sees your payment details. Nestlog receives only a confirmation of whether you own Pro and stores that on your device so your features stay unlocked. We do not collect or process any payment information. Google's handling of the purchase is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

Permissions

Nestlog asks only for what a specific feature needs, and every permission is used solely on your device. None of them are used to contact us or any external service.

PermissionWhy it is used
Network and Wi-Fi (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE) Direct device-to-device sync over your local network only. It is never used to reach us or any external server.
Camera Only to scan a pairing QR code when you set up sync. No photos are taken or stored, and the camera is never used at any other time.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) To show local reminders you turn on (such as feeds or milk near its use-by time) and the ongoing notification for a running timer. There are no push notifications.
Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE) To keep a running feeding or sleep timer accurate while the app is in the background.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) The optional floating timer bubble, off by default. If you enable it in Settings, quick timer controls are drawn over other apps while a feed timer is running. Nestlog only draws on the screen; it reads nothing from other apps.
Biometric or device unlock Optional app lock. Your biometric data is handled entirely by the Android system; Nestlog never sees or stores it.

Children's data

Nestlog is intended for use by parents and caregivers. Information about your child is stored only on your device and is never collected by us or shared with anyone.

Your control

You can edit or delete any entry, and you can uninstall the app to remove its local data, at any time.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version at this URL.
